Smith has always seen music and singing as a form of therapy, a way of healing, and a spiritual practice. Growing up he had a speech impediment, a stutter that instilled a fear of speaking in him. Often preferring not to socialize with strangers because how bad it was. The stutter would go away when he sang which deepened his love of singing ten fold. Singing became his way of communication when talking failed.

Since 2021 Smith has released 3 solo projects, each project more introspective than the next. With charm and optimism Donnie T Smith seeks to tell his life's story through soulful vocals and beautiful music. There is vulnerability in his delivery, but also quiet power—an ancestral resonance that feels both intimate and otherworldly. Donnie’s voice doesn’t just fill a room—it shifts the energy, calling listeners inward and leaving something awakened behind.
